Description: Orbited by two large moons, the Planet Vjun possesses an environment teaming with a diverse array of life forms. Archaeological evidence shows that this may not have always been the case. Large, ancient ruins found on both of the planets poles indicate that an unknown race may have “terraformed” the world by partially melting its ice caps, releasing carbon dioxide, oxygen and other life sustaining gasses into the atmosphere. Fossil and other evidence also indicates that life was imported to this planet from elsewhere, possibly from worlds closer to the galactic core. The two natural satellites Aertriss and Lortahius, in conjunction with the systems pair of suns, create a wide range of weather conditions. The average temperature at sea level is approximately 30 degrees, and a high level of global humidity can sometimes make conditions unpleasant for beings that rely on perspiration for body temperature regulation. The tides of Vjuns oceans sometimes create huge swells. One galactic surf guru stated that Vjun has “the most humungus surf in the universe”. While many adventurous wave riders journey to Vjun searching for the perfect wave, travellers should be aware that the lack of an organised rescue society, and the planets unpredictable tides, make aquatic sports on Vjun suitable only for the experienced. Independent miners first settled the planet, but the colony soon failed, and the inhabitants were forced to leave for a more suitable location. More recently, refugees fleeing religious persecution have settled on the world, their larger numbers and grim determination promising a more successful colonisation of the world. |
